New Roles and Possibilities

Advancement in my company and rumors of good things to come

In the Offices of Morningstar Entertainment/Invisible Arts we have been primarily working on two different shows: one for Spike TV, "Deadliest Warrior" and another for Discovery Channel called "Bad Universe: Death from the Skies". While I have done work on both shows my focus has been on Bad Universe.
Now, as one of the senior people in the VFX department, and as an eager "go-getter" I have recently been promoted to CG Supervisor on Bad Universe. This basically means that I'm responsible for doling out shots to all the team members in the department, reviewing their work, and making sure that the pipeline keeps moving and we keep delivering shots to the editors. It also means that I continue to tackle some of the more complicated shots in the show.
On Friday the 14th of May we had a meeting with the company executives to go over the progress of the VFX and to decide what else needed to get done and how we were going to do it. Now, earlier in the week we had some execs from Discovery in to watch a rough cut of the show. Apparently, it went so well that the execs want to not only buy many more episodes, there's talk that it may get a slot right after Mythbusters, which is their top show. That basically means that we would move directly into Discovery's prime time. That's excellent news for me and the department. Wish us luck!
